Dear Friends,
On behalf of the parish council I extend congratulations and thanks to Racheal Grodhaus and Gbantsa Norakia for participating in Assumption’s first ever Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. The parish is so honored to be represented in Kansas City, MO by two of our youth. Thanks, too, to Cameron Service, Zoe Thiros, and Jacee Fernandez for participating wonderfully in the elementary division. All of the youth were outstanding. In addition to this great event, Fr. Elias offered recognition to Nick Fuller for his devoted service as Acolyte, well deserved indeed. Thank you to all of the youth and parents who have been so active! I know all of our members rejoice in what you have added to our parish.
I have been delighted to see the list of chairpersons for the Festival filling up. More important than the funds raised to help support our operations and ministries, the Festival affords us opportunities to serve His Church alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is this sense of fellowship and collaboration that has so enriched our community. Thank you all.
As Pascha approaches, I wish every member and friend of Assumption a blessed Lenten journey. There are many opportunities to enhance our individual experiences throughout Lent. I hope we have a high level of participation at services, as well as at the Youth Lenten Retreat, Palm Sunday fellowship and luncheon, preparing eggs and decorating the Epitaphio, and other chances to be together. In addition, we are so fortunate to have Fr. Elias with us again through Holy Week, and he is always delighted to spend time with parishioners on an individual basis. Please take advantage of his time, as well as the events and services at which we are blessed to be together in worship.
If there is ever anything your parish council members may do to help or assist, do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Danny H. Thiros
Parish Council President
